All speakers listed in the CTGBC speaker's Bureau are self selected volunteer
members of the CTGBC. Many are experts in there respective fields. However, the
CTGBC does not warrant, verify or endorse any information they provide. Each

Bruce Bockstael FAIA,
Chief Architect, Dept. of Public Works, State of CT Bruce has been the chief architect for DPW for over 20 years
overseeing most of the State Funded building projects undertaken within
the State of CT. He has guided DPW into requiring sustainable design in
most of its projects. He has been instrumental in encouraging the
passage of sustainable design in all state funded projects. He is one of
the founders of CTGBC, and is active in AIA, CSI, QBS, the Construction
Institute and most building code activities.
Mike DeNamur, LEED-AP
With 20 years in the industry, Mike has special expertise and experience in the
use of open protocol technologies in building automation and control systems. In
his current position as Sales Leader Owner Direct Markets for Trane Connecticut,
Mike focuses on educating facility owners on the benefits of green, sustainable,

Barry Katz, CGP, LEED AP, President of Barry Katz
Homebuilding and Greenworks Consulting
After more than twenty years experience in new construction and remodeling,
Barry now works exclusively on green design and construction projects. He also
offers sustainability consulting services for residential and commercial
projects through his new company, Greenworks Consulting, LLC. He is the
recipient of the 2007 HOBI Award for Best Green House from the Connecticut

George V. Keithan, Jr.
Mr. Keithan is the original founder of CES, and serves as the studio director of
two multi-disciplined design teams specializing in technologically advanced
building systems for many different project types. He is a "hands - on"
practicing engineer, well-versed in local, state and federal codes throughout
the United States. Mr. Keithan frequently serves as an on-air expert for local
and regional radio programs, addressing topics of energy saving design and
construction.

As Director for Operations for the Institute for Sustainable Energy,
Bill is responsible for the overall organization and operational
management of the Institute. Mr. Leahy expertise is in sustainable

Foster Lyons, co-owner of Coastal Point Construction, LLC, in Cos Cob, CT
Foster holds a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State
University and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Georgetown University.
Since entering the construction industry in 1988, he has been involved with the
construction management of over 800 units of housing. He has served as
Superintendent, Project Manager, Project Executive and company owner for many
commercial and residential projects in Connecticut, New York City and its
northern suburbs. Foster’s educational background, especially in the areas of
heat and moisture transfer allows him a comfortable familiarity with building

Linda Reeder, AIA, LEED AP
Linda Reeder is an architect and author of the book
Guide to Green Building Rating Systems: Understanding LEED, Green
Globes, ENERGY STAR, the National Green Building Standard, and More.
She has developed and taught courses in sustainable design and
construction in the Construction Management program at Central
Connecticut State University and the Department of Architecture at the

Delbert B. Smith, Jr., PE, CPD, LEED AP
Mr. Smith is a founding principal of CES, and possesses over 20 years of
experience in building systems design for project types such as high-end
residential, research & development, health care and education. He serves as the
head of the CES Green Team for research in sustainable design, and is a frequent
lecturer for AIA continuing education seminars as well as local universities and
government agencies.

Bruce Bockstael

Mike DeNamur, LEED-AP
With 20 years in the industry, Mike has special expertise and experience
in the use of open protocol technologies in building automation and

and building systems integration in Today's Facility Manager, ASHRAE
Journal and other industry periodicals and has been an invited speaker
on the topic of open systems / interoperability at local, regional and
national conferences for IFMA, ASHRAE, BOMA and other industry groups.
In his current position as Sales Leader Owner Direct Markets for Trane
Connecticut, Mike focuses on educating facility owners on the benefits
of green, sustainable, high-performance building design. Mike spoke at
the CT Power and Energy Society "What's the Deal" energy event held in
conjunction with Governor Rell's "One Thing" energy campaign in October
2008. His presentation covered the financial benefits of high
performance buildings and strategies for achieving greater energy
efficiency. In November 2008, Mike spoke to members of the CT
Association of Boards of Education / CT Association of Public School
Superintendents at their 2008 annual conference. His presentation
covered the benefits of high performance, energy-efficient school
facilities. Mike has a Bachelor of Science / Mechanical Engineering from
the University of Minnesota.
Barry Katz, CGP, LEED AP Barry Katz is one of
Connecticut's leading proponents of green building. A home builder with
more than twenty years experience in new construction and remodeling, he
now works exclusively on green design and construction projects. He also
offers sustainability (i.e. green) consulting services for residential
and commercial projects through his new company, Greenworks Consulting,
LLC. He is the recipient of the 2007 HOBI Award for Best Green House
from the Connecticut Association of Homebuilders.
Katz's speaking engagements have taken him as far afield as San Diego
for "Reinvention 2006," sponsored by Residential Architect magazine, and
to the Boston Society of Architects’ Residential Design Conference
(2007, 2008, & 2009 - upcoming) where he has participated in panel
discussions and presents an annual green building workshop for
architects and building professionals.
Barry is a former chairman of the Westport Architectural Review Board.
His published writings have included newspaper columns on home
improvement, and magazine articles on green building, architecture and
the arts. He is currently at work on a book, "Practical Green
Remodeling: Down-to-Earth Solutions for Every Day Homes," due out from

companies, prestigious hospitals, cutting edge bio-technology firms,

is responsible for negotiating multimillion dollar contracts for new
construction and renovation projects including construction management,
build to suit projects and leaseback facilities.
Mr. Renz is a LEED accredited professional, certified in the "Green"
environmentally sensitive approach to construction.
Through various projects, Todd has used "green technologies" to design
and build facilities with "green" features such as the use of solar,
photovoltaic panels and fuel cells that reduce energy consumption. Sites
are being designed to reduce water run off and minimize pollution, and
recycling is being incorporated into all projects. Many incentives are
available through utility rebates, the Clean Energy Fund, the Federal
Energy Act, and tax credits. At O,R&L, Todd has standardized these green
concepts and has incorporated them into all projects thus reducing the
pay back period of new buildings.

Linda Reeder, AIA, LEED AP
Linda’s New Haven-based firm Linda Reeder Architecture, LLC provides
residential design services and consults with architecture firms,
nonprofits, and others on commercial and institutional projects and
sustainability issues. Before starting her own firm in 2005, Linda was
an associate at Roth and Moore Architects where she designed
multi-family and institutional buildings. Linda has taught graduate and
undergraduate students since 2004 and is a speaker at the American
Institute of Architects (AIA)’s 2010 national convention. She is the
editor of the AIA’s SPP Journal, a national journal for small project
practitioners. Linda has served on the New Haven Commission on
Disabilities since 2004 and is a member of the AIA Connecticut’s
Committee on the Environment and the Building Performance & Regulations
Committee. She has a Masters of Architecture degree from the Yale School

John Rountree, AIA
John Rountree graduated from Syracuse University School of Architecture
in 1982. He worked for a number of large architectural firms in New York
City before forming his own firm, Rountree Architects in 1990.
Mr. Rountree's firm, Rountree Architects, specializes in the design of
energy efficient, environmentally sound buildings that utilize
non-polluting, renewable energy technologies.
In 1992 Mr. Rountree founded the AIA/Connecticut Committee on the
Environment (COTE) and in 1995 was appointed to serve on the national
COTE steering committee.
In 2003 he along with good his friend and colleague, Mark Pizzi,
received a grant from the US Department of Energy and the Connecticut
Clean Energy Fund to promote the use of Solar Photovoltaics in Fairfield
County.
He and Mark now lead a company, Westport Solar Consultants, specializing
in the design of grid-tied PV systems for commercial and institutional
buildings.
